How to apply for jobs with Northern Lights Ventures
Whether you are applying for a front desk role in Sioux Lookout, a line cook position, Home Hardware retail, or hotel maintenance, a clear application saves time for you and our hiring team. Here is how our process works and how to put your best foot forward.
Start with the right posting
Use Current Openings to browse all roles, or filter by category such as Motel & Hotel, Restaurant, Retail, and Maintenance. Each listing links to a detail page with responsibilities, requirements, and an apply button pre-filled for that job and location.
If you are open to more than one town, visit Locations and review community pages before you apply. Choosing a preferred location helps us route your resume to the right manager.
Complete the online application
Our Apply Now form collects:
- Contact information and availability
- Job interest (specific role or general application)
- Preferred location
- A short cover note describing your experience
- Your resume file (PDF or Word, under 5 MB)
Submitting opens an email to careers@northernlightsventures.ca with your details — attach your resume before sending if your mail app prompts you to do so.
Resume tips that help in hospitality and retail
- Lead with reliability: Highlight steady attendance, shift flexibility, and customer service examples.
- Name the skills we use: POS systems, reservations software, food safety certification, Smart Serve, forklift or hardware knowledge, basic repairs, etc.
- Be honest about licensing: Driver’s licence, Food Handler, Smart Serve — note if you are willing to obtain certification.
- Keep it readable: One or two pages is enough for most front-line roles.
- Mention relocation: If you are moving from outside the area, say when you could start and whether you have housing arranged.
After you apply
Response times vary by property and season. If you have not heard back within a reasonable period, you may follow up by email with the role and location you applied for. New postings are added to the jobs page when openings become available — check back or submit a general application if your ideal role is not listed yet.
No perfect match on the board?
Submit a general application anyway. Northern Lights Ventures hires across multiple hotels, restaurants, retail stores, and contracting work. A strong resume on file can be considered when housekeeping, kitchen, front desk, retail, or maintenance openings appear in your preferred community.
